Complete Streets

What Are Complete Streets?
Complete Streets are streets designed and operated to be safe, comfortable, and convenient for all users, not just those using a car. The vision is for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities to safely use our streets.
Topeka and Shawnee County have adopted the complete the streets policy, asking their planners and engineers to build road networks that are safer, more livable, and welcoming to everyone.
Instituting the complete streets policy ensures that transportation planners and engineers consistently design and operate the entire roadway with all users in mind - including bicyclists, public transportation vehicles and riders, and pedestrians of all ages and abilities.
